For years, I’ve helped businesses and individuals build their relationship with technology. And one morning, scrolling my phone before my feet touched the floor, I realized that the person in the house who knew the most about technology was also the one most trapped by it.
I worked all day and couldn’t remember what I had done. I started things I never finished. I came home exhausted… yet somehow still had energy left for one last round of infinite scrolling. If that sounds familiar, keep reading.
I couldn’t find a guide or reference that talked to me about this without lecturing me. It was all either «delete your social media» or «discipline and habits, cloistered-monk style.» I didn’t want to disconnect — I love technology; I work in and with it. I wanted my mind to stop being free territory for any invader with an algorithm.
So I started building — reading, watching, practicing. First, just for me, pencil and paper: I drew a map of where distraction was actually getting in. Then, wall by wall, I turned it into a system. I gave it the name the idea demanded: The Keep.
Today, after months of experimenting, I can finally show what I put on paper.
The Keep will be available in ebook and paperback (my favorite format) on Amazon. And for the first time, publishing something makes me feel a little dizzy: this book is me, without the shelter of fiction.
For decades, I wrote with no concrete goal beyond feeding my own soul. The moment has come to explore my mind and show its contents more openly. To those who know me, choosing this topic for a debut might seem like an odd choice. The ones that follow will explore very different territories — some fiction written years ago, others I’m already working on, venturing into what it means to be human in this strange age we live in. But they will all have one thing in common: my point of view. Sometimes absurd, sometimes redundant, but always coming from an expressive and sincere soul.
Thank you, Mirna, who saw the fortress before I did. And thank you for reading this far.
A Spanish adaptation is also available: La Fortaleza de la Atención.
